The Purpose Of Using Stall Guards

Owning horses should give you a sense of pride because these animals do not come cheap and not everyone gets the chance to actually own horses. Some people may get to ride horses when they visit a farm but not a lot of people get to own horses. If you own horses then you have to make sure that you take good care of them. These majestic creatures are not like the other animals where you just give them food and then let them be. Horses need special care and attention.

If you own horses then you will need a barn with several stalls where they can be kept inside when they are not exercising or when the weather is not that great. These stalls are not just any kind of enclosure. You need to make sure that the stalls are comfortable for the horses. The stall will need bedding for the horses and these can be made of several materials such as straw, shredded paper or shavings.

Another important step in creating the stalls for your horses is to make sure that they are properly enclosed in the stall. This is so that they will not be wandering out and about the barn whenever they feel like it. If you put them in the stall then they have to stay there until it is time for them to get out. You can install door stalls but these are very covered. Horses are known to be very social and curious creatures. They want to be able to look around and see what is going on around them. They will not be very comfortable if you place them in a stall that is covered with a door which does not allow them to look around.

The best option for your stalls is to use stall guards. Stall guards allow the horses to see their surroundings. They are also able to socialize with the horses in the other stalls. This will prevent them from getting bored while they are enclosed in the stalls. Installing stall guards can also help in improving the circulation of the air inside the barn.

Stall guards can be made out of various materials depending on your choice. Another great thing about them is that aside from being very practical, they are also decorative. You can have your stall guards personalized. Your logo or the name of your ranch or horse can be printed or painted on the personalize stall guards. This will make your barn look more lively and colourful.

2: Proper technique to remove the rust. Instead of using exhaustive scrubbing to ruin the metal's original texture, think about using a file to get rid of heavy rust particles the brush did not detail initially. This is recommended for the straight, flat frames of the railing.

3: Detailing the metal railing frames. When repainting metal rails, it is elementary to properly sand the rounded and curved areas to maintain the restore the beauty of the metal. A Closer Look At Lawnmower Blades - Manufacturing And Maintenance

Although you wouldn't think it, the blades are the most important part of your lawnmower - without them, it would just be a little machine on wheels that you could drive around your yard for no reason. But how much attention do you really pay your lawnmower's blades? My guess is not much at all, and this could be a big mistake. This guide will first take a look at how these blades are manufactured, and will then tell you how to keep them maintained.

Manufacturing

Basically, two different types of steel is used to create lawnmower blades as we know them - the first is a mild or carbon steel and the second is known as tool steel. Blades made out of the latter material are know to stay sharp for much longer than the carbon steel ones, meaning that they have to be cleaned and maintained far less. They are also far more expensive than the other kind, which need to be sharpened much more regularly.

Maintenance

It is of the utmost importance that your lawnmower's blade are kept sharp, as this will ensure that they cut neatly through the grass rather than tearing it out (which can damage your lawn as well as your blades). Fortunately, it is possible to sharpen your lawnmower's blades yourself, which can save you a small fortune because you no longer have to visit a professional.

Remove your lawnmower's source of power. For electric models, pull out the cord; for petrol models, pull out the spark plug; for battery models, pull the batteries out. Carefully remove the blades from the base of your lawnmower, being sure to follow the instructions that can be found in your manufacturer's manual. You may like to number the parts so that you put them back in the correct order when you're finished. Take the first blade and place it into a vice. This will hold it securely in place whilst you work on it. Use a metal file or a grinder to sharpen the blade. Make sure that you follow the existing contour of the blade. Put the blades back onto the lawnmower, following the numbers that you wrote on the parts earlier if you need to.

By determining what sort of blades your lawnmower has been fitted with (mild or carbon steel, or tool steel), you will be able to create for yourself a sharpening schedule that always ensures your blades are kept in tip top condition. Make sure that you follow the sharpening instructions carefully, otherwise you may find that your blades are still dull or chipped, which can cause serious damage to your lawn.

Reasons Why Zero Turn Ride On Mowers Are A Good Investment

These days, many homeowners are blessed with a larger property, allowing them plenty of room for attractive landscaping projects and for the children to run around. A yard of this size, however, calls for the use of a ride on mower if you are to have any chance of keeping your unruly grass in check. One of the best machines for getting this job done is the zero turn mower, and there are a number of reasons that any homeowner would benefit from buying one.

Firstly, what is a zero turn mower? The machine belongs to the ride on mower family of lawnmowers, meaning that it is one that the homeowner can sit on and drive (similar to a car or go-kart). What sets this mower apart from other ride on's, however, is that they are able to turn around on the spot, whilst continuing to mow. Other mowers, on the other hand, will need to reverse out of narrow gaps or do a three point turn.

So, what are the reasons that make these sorts of mowers such a good investment for homeowners?

The zero turn ride on is one of the quickest and most efficient mowers on the market, allowing you to cut and maintain your lawns in what feels like no time at all. They are very easy to maneouvre, making them the ideal choice for homeowners who aren't overly agile, including the elderly and people with movement disabilities. The zero turn model ensures that every inch of grass in your lawn is cut to the same height, lessening the need to go back later on and trim patches that have been missed. They offer the homeowner the ultimate experience in comfort, as their padded seats absorb much of the vibration of the engine and offer a smooth and comfortable ride. The zero turn model was originally designed for industrial use (they were created to cut the grass in sporting stadiums), so you can rest assured that they are durable and built to last.

As you can see, homeowners with larger sized properties would benefit greatly from the purchase of a zero turn ride on mower. Not only will they make short work of your grass, giving you more time to enjoy the features of your expansive property, they will achieve the sort of perfect and even lawns that you have only dreamed of. Consider how a zero turn mower can make your life easier and visit your local showroom to see one in action today.

Toolbox Essentials - Screwdrivers

Screwdrivers are probably the most common tools used both for household and professional purposes. They come in a large variety of sizes from tiny jeweler's screwdrivers up, and are designed to match the large variety of screws available.

The screwdriver seems to have originated in either France or Germany in the late 15th century. The original name for this tool was screwturner or turnscrew. The earliest screwdrivers had pear-shaped wooden handles and were made for slotted screws. Screws were used in the 15th century for constructing screw-cutting lathes, for securing breastplates, backplates and helmets on medieval jousting armor. Screwdrivers developed over time as the development of screws evolved and improved.

In 1908, a Canadian, P.L. Robertson, although not the first person to patent the idea of socket-head screws, was the first person to successfully commercialize them. Socket screws rapidly grew in popularity and are still a favorite of mechanics today for their resistance to wear and tear, their compatibility with hex keys, and their ability to stop a power tool when set. Unfortunately, Robertson was unwilling to relinquish his patents and as a result, ran in to difficulties when trying to market his invention to the newly booming auto industry.

In the meantime, an American, Henry F. Phillips, patented his own improved invention, today known as the Phillips screw. It was a version of a deep socket with a cruciform (arranged in a cross) that quickly became, and still remains, the most popular screw in the world. A main attraction for the screw was that conventional slotted screwdrivers could be used on them.

Torx, the trademark for a type of screw head characterized by a six-point star-shaped pattern, was developed in 1967 by Camcar Textron. The screwdriver used on these screws is sometimes referred to as a star screwdriver. Torx screws are commonly used on automobiles, motorcycles, bicycle brake systems, hard disk drives, computer systems and consumer electronics. Initially, they were used in applications requiring tamper-resistance, since the drive systems and screwdrivers were not readily available.

There are many different types of screws, and consequently many different types of screwdrivers, available today. The slotted, Phillips and Robertson screwdrivers remain the most popular. From minor household repairs, to major construction projects, the need for a good set of screwdrivers is apparent. It would be convenient to only require one type, but the variety of metal and wood screws available deem this impossible. If a screwdriver is not the correct size and type for the screw being used, it's very likely that the screw will be damaged in the process of tightening or loosening it.

Screwdrivers may be purchased individually or in sets. Your toolbox or tool drawer should contain at least a couple of flat or slotted screwdrivers, a couple of Phillips screwdrivers, and a couple of Robertson screwdrivers, all in various sizes. A set of precision screwdrivers and perhaps a small cordless screwdriver with various bits are great tools to have on hand as well. Some screwdriver tips are magnetic, so that the screw remains attached to the screwdriver while the screwdriver is being used. This feature is particularly useful when working with small screws that are typically difficult to handle.

A set of screwdrivers or a cordless screwdriver can prove to be an inexpensive but useful gift for someone starting out on their own. Both men and women can make use of these tools for a variety of tasks from simply tightening existing screws around the house, installing a ceiling fan, or for working on home renovations. Having the right tools for the job is imperative. Although it may be tempting, never use screwdrivers as improvised substitutes for pry bars, levers, hole punches, or any other purpose they are not designed for. Such use can damage the tip or bend the shaft, or injure the user if the screwdriver slips or fails. Always remember safety first!

Reviewing Bosch As a Table Saw Company

It would be nice to know that if a company makes one great product that all of their other products will stand up to the same test. Unfortunately in today's market that is true less and less. Actual market forces are one of the main reasons for this to be true. A company like Bosch, for example, makes an excellent mixer. They do great in this high end range of kitchen mixers but with that market already capitalized by Bosch they are then forced to look to the other end of the spectrum: low cost options.

And they are in fact SEPARATE markets. I mean, lets face it; the person in the market for a $50 mixer is not going to be the same one in the market for one that costs $350. Of course the quality difference is quite apparent in this situation. And the same is true for Table Saws. When I review table saws I want to understand the difference between the high end product and the low end product. And it usually is a difference.

The two table saw products to review in this scenario are the Bosch 4100-09 which runs about $600 vs the Bosch GTS1031 table saw which runs about half that. On initial review you see that the 4100 has more to the frame and body. It has a nifty rolling stand that assists it in mobility and a host of other features the first one has. This additional bulk to the saw is paid for with your extra $300 though make no mistake about it. You truly do get what you pay for.

Now back to what I was saying about maintaining an image of quality. In the case of Bosch they do maintain their product lines clearly in the upper end of the market by choice because even this "low end" table saw is still $350 vs some no name product that you can get for about $75. And in the case of Bosch in general they have a general name for being quality but that still doesn't mean you can always trust that. Because anything in the "today" could change tomorrow. All they have to do is decide that their stock holders aren't getting enough money in this economy and that they would like to attack the extremely low end of products. Often times when companies do that they maintain their high end products as well. But in the end I think it hurts the company since their high end products (even if built just the same) will have the stigma of the lower end ones taking their image down.

For now Bosch does well with their table saws and their other products but the bottom line is that the only real advice is to do research on each product before you buy.

Advice For Anyone Buying A Ride On Mower

Having a large yard can be a nightmare for homeowners who are forced to tackle the grass with push or even manual mowers. To lessen the stress and exertion associated with these models, many homeowners will turn to the ride on mower as the solution to their problems. Being unfamiliar with these types, however, can cause a few stresses of its own, so it is beneficial to get as much advice before purchasing as possible.

The first piece of advice that we can offer you is to thoroughly assess your requirements before making any sort of purchase. This includes the size of your lawn (as ride on's are also available in a number of different sizes), your landscaping and the amount of obstacles that your lawn features, the layout of your property and your budget.

If your property has been set up with very few obstacles to manoeuvre around (such as trees, playground equipment, garden beds, and so on), then a gear driven ride on mower could be a good option. This will provide you with a steady, constant speed as you drive around your lawn. If your property features a number of obstacles, however, you should be looking at more of an automatic transmission mower, which allows for accelerating and braking without using the clutch.

The second piece of advice that we can offer you is to conduct your search during the off-season (so, during autumn and winter). During summer and spring, prices for ride on's will be at their peak, but during the off-season you should be able to pick up a great deal.

The third piece of advice that we can offer you is to thoroughly check all of the mower's parts before purchasing. You will need to make sure that you can source replacement parts when you need them, as well as looking into what sort of warranty is being offered and where you will have to take the machine to get these sorts of repairs completed. It is also recommended that you scrutinise the size and type of blades that are being used, as these can occasionally be difficult to replace or sharpen.

Buying a ride on mower can be a daunting process, especially for homeowners who have had little or no experience with these models in the past. If this sums up your current situation, getting all of the advice you can is often the best help that you will get. Use the three above pieces of advice to ensure that you are making the right choice.

Discover How Catering Equipment Rental Could Help Your Business

There comes a time when many professional catering businesses need to invest in new equipment for their kitchens or services. All too often though, investing in new kit can prove an expensive outlay, particularly for smaller operators or those just starting up. It is in such instances that catering equipment rental can be so useful.

Even large-scale caterers can benefit from catering equipment rental, particularly when taking on larger jobs where existing kitchens may not be big enough. Catering at outdoor events often calls for a great deal of extra equipment too, and hiring appliances can prove very cost effective.

It is important to choose a firm which understands the industry, has a proven background and good testimonials. It is also essential that they have all the equipment you need. Whilst renting from more than one firm is possible, this usually increases costs and so reduces the cost effectiveness of rental in the first place.

A good catering equipment rental firm will be able to supply ovens and ranges, fryers and sous vides, hot cupboards and coffee machines and everything in between. They should also be able to provide cutlery and crockery, glassware and even disposable catering supplies if you need these for less formal or outdoor events.

Doing business with a catering hire company which has experience of supplying a wide variety of clients is a good idea too. For example, with different appliances and pieces of equipment needed for a party event than for a formal reception, this experience can be invaluable when you finalise exactly what equipment you need. If you have overlooked an item, your supplier will most likely point this out so you won't find yourself with problems on the day of an event.

If you have a high-end event that needs to be catered for, it is also essential to work with a firm that has experience working in this field. From knowing the better china and glassware brands to use to being able to provide high-quality linens and napkins, they will help deliver the perfect experience for your guests. After all, having prepared well thought-out and executed food, it should be presented with just as much distinction.

When looking at kitchen equipment hire, you also need to consider delivery costs and restrictions. A good supplier should provide coverage across the country and deliver appliances on site in plenty of time for events, without the need for overnight storage.

When it comes to returning items, check whether the company you choose for your catering equipment will take back soiled equipment. With washing and cleaning taking up so much time after an event, this can be hugely beneficial. For crockery and glassware too, having this policy means breakages are likely to be significantly reduced.

For a great many firms working in the food and drink industry, renting their catering equipment is often seen as a very sensible choice. Whether as part of an on-going strategy to have access to the latest appliances, or for hosting larger jobs, catering equipment rental can really be a huge benefit.

Types Of Cordless Tools That Are Useful For Everyday Situations

Gone were the days when people depended on their sheer physical strength to get manual work done. In the past, people relied on hammers, saws, grinders and wrenches to be able to do their repair or construction work. Today, these tools are still useful but one can accelerate the efficiency of their work by using what are called as "cordless power tools".

These cordless tools perform the same functions as your good old hammers and wrenches, except that they do the work on a much powerful scale. In short, they are tools on steroids. Cordless machines are convenient, because they do not need to be connected directly to an electric source in order to be used. Thus, they present many benefits to any do-it-yourself (DIY) enthusiast who wants to get down to elbow grease.

The following are examples of the most commonly used cordless equipment:

1. Cordless Reciprocating Saw. This is a powerful electric saw that can be used for smoothly cutting thick materials such as pipes, ceilings, hard wood planks, and floorings. This tool has sharp blades that rapidly move up and down. The cordless reciprocating saw itself must be held with both hands because it is usually larger than jigsaws. If you are planning to do some serious home improvement work, this piece of equipment is a must have.

2. Cordless Drill. This tool is used for drilling holes on walls or driving screws to attach two objects together. Instead of spending hours on drilling through screwdrivers, the cordless electric drill can sink screws faster than you can imagine. The reason why this piece of equipment is effective is because it is powered electrically and it uses an air pump device that causes the machine to work more forcefully than usefully. This is perfect for attaching curtains, putting up doors, and repairing automotive parts.

3. Cordless Impact Wrench. This is used for major DIY and construction projects, because of its ability to tighten sockets and screws faster than you can imagine. Its air compression feature allows for high impact hammering of and tightening of sockets, such as in wheels, automotive parts and assembling loose appliances.

There are many other cordless power tools and equipment that anyone can use for everyday situations. However, it is also useful to understand that these come in many different brands, types, and prices. While you may get a good bargain for discounted tools, purchasing original, durable and branded items are proven to be the best option for long term use.

Advice For Anyone Buying A Hedge Trimmer

Whilst hedges are a fantastic way to edge a property and create a distinct separation between different areas of your yard, they can be a pain to keep in check. One of the best ways that homeowners have found to keep unruly shrubbery at bay is by purchasing a hedge trimmer. As there are so many different styles and sizes on the market, however, finding one that suits your needs can be a nightmare of its own.

The first piece of advice that we have to offer is in regards to the two types of electric hedge trimmer currently available. The first type requires access to a power point in order to operate it and, if you have a large property, it's likely that you'll need an extension cord. The second type requires the power of a rechargeable battery in order to operate it and, if you have a large yard, you will probably need to recharge it midway through.

The second piece of advice that we have to offer is in regards to the third type of hedge trimmer, which operates on petrol. Many homeowners prefer not to use this type because they are a little on the heavy side and they can be quite noisy to use, meaning that neighbours won't always be impressed with your new toy. On the other hand, other homeowners prefer to use this type of trimmer because it is much more effective in cutting through shrubbery.

Each of these types comes equipped with their own advantages and disadvantages, some of which include:

If working with a corded hedge trimmer, you will need to be extremely wary of the where the extension cord is at all times. If it becomes tangled up in the hedge you're cutting, you could easily cut through it. If it becomes tangled around your feet, it could trip you up. If working with a battery trimmer, you will probably get around 45 minutes of use with every fully charged battery. When working on hedges with thicker branches, however, this time will be greatly reduced, as the trimmer will require more power to get through the wood. If working with a petrol trimmer, you will have to be wary of the exhaust fumes that you will be subjected to. Some people like to counteract this by wearing a gas mask, whilst others are willing to take their chances for the sake of even hedges.

There can be no denying that buying a hedge trimmer can be an extremely stressful and intimidating process, especially if you have had little to no experience with these machines in the past. By taking each piece of advice that we have offered in the above article, however, you can ensure that you make the best choice for your property and your needs.

Tips For Winterizing Your Ride On Mower

Owning an expensive and powerful piece of equipment, such as a ride on mower, requires that you properly care for it and maintain it if you don't want to be forking out hundreds of dollars for repairs (or even a new mower). Part of this care and maintenance includes getting your ride on ready for the long winter months when it will sit idle in the shed or garage, waiting until next spring when you pull it out once more. Use these tips to help you properly winterize your mower:

Drain any remaining fuel from the tank and dispose of it properly (as it cannot be reused). Often, rubbish tips will have an area where you can take old mower fuel. You can then refill the tank with new fuel that has been pre-treated with a stabilizer - this will prevent it from going bad in the tank over winter. Drain the oil from the mower's crankcase and either recycle it (in another power tool that uses the same oil) or dispose of it properly, as you did with the fuel. Add some new oil to the crankcase. Turn the ride on mower on and run it for a few minutes. This will cycle the new fuel (with the stabilizer additive) throughout the motor and the carburetor, ensuring that the fuel in these areas of the motor will not gum up over the winter. Remove the spark plug and pour about half a cup of oil through the opening and into the cylinder. You can then replace the spark plug, but remove its wire. This will prevent the mower from accidentally switching on when unattended. You should also remove the wires from the spark plugs on the engine, then slowly crank the system to distribute the oil through it. Lubricate all points of the mower where friction occurs (basically, all of the moving parts). This will stop them from jamming up over the period of unuse. Make sure that the ride on is stored well clear of any equipment that uses a pilot light (such as a stove or a heater), other devices that could cause a spark (such as electronics), and corrosive substances (such as fertiliser).

When spring finally rolls around once again and your lawns have grown to out of control proportions, you can rest assured in the knowledge that your ride on mower will work first go when you pull it out of storage. If you fail to properly prepare your mower for storage, you will find that it probably requires a service before it can be used and that parts will need to be replaced.

Ease And Quiet With The Rolair JC10 Air Compressor

Compressed air is a huge help to nailing with a pneumatic nail gun, and has many other applications around the home or on the work site. Being able to carry a lightweight compressor to the exact point where you are working is a major benefit in itself; when you combine that with a quiet motor that produces the same decibels as a regular conversation, and clean, easy to maintain oil-less operation, you have a winner, which is assuredly what the Rolair JC10 Air Compressor is.

Weighing a very portable 38 pounds, the Rolair JC10 Super Quiet 1 Horsepower Oil-Less 2.5 Gallon Air Compressor is a sturdy cylindrical device housed inside an open framework of metal pipes that serve both as its legs (with anti-vibration feet) and as the carrying handle. There is a padded grip on the central bar, but the machine can actually be lifted and carried in several different ways using the pipes, and depending on what space you are moving through while bearing it.

Cutting edge technical features combine with old-fashioned, rugged American craftsmanship. Made in the United States, the JC10 shows this with its excellent materials - there is no cheap pot metal here that will bend and break after a few uses, but sturdy, long-lasting construction put together into a very tough whole. The roll cage design of the pipes means that even if it tips over, the gauges and other sensitive areas will be safe, and it could probably take a short tumble without ill effects.

The air pressure is not specified by the manufacturer, but you'll find yourself able to carry out most light to medium tasks quickly and efficiently with this vigorous design. The tank provides enough pressure to drive 2 ½" to 3" nails through oak planks, and can potentially operate two nail guns at once (though this will empty its 2.5 gallon capacity rather quickly). Work will naturally be cyclic, but the machine is strong enough so that working time exceeds the downtime while you're waiting for the tank to refill.

The combination of oil-less operation and a quiet motor is a feature of this device that is worth underlining. Manufacturers seldom manage to combine both of these positive features in one compressor, but the Rolair JC10 blends them seamlessly.

The hassle of checking oil levels, adding new oil, and possibly seeing a greasy puddle in the middle of a beautifully finished floor where you had the compressor resting, are all swept away, freeing you to focus on using the air compressor rather than tending it. It is still necessary to empty extra moisture from the tank with the built in valve, of course, but this is as far most regular maintenance needs to go.

This small but hard-working compressor manages to be very quiet at the same time - quiet enough so you literally don't need to raise your voice to be heard over it. If you are doing some repair work in an office building, you can drive nails and nearby work can be done practically undisturbed. If you are a home handyperson, you can work without interfering with your spouse's telephone conversation or television viewing.

The Rolair JC10 Air Compressor, in short, is a splendid answer to all your light and medium-duty compressed air needs. It drives nails quickly and effectively, maintains good pressure, and can be used for other pneumatic tools and tasks, including tire inflation - a Jack-of-all-trades competence that is married to exacting, rugged design, easy portability, and quiet operation without the mess of oil. Unless you need commercial-level power for framing or something equally stringent, the JC10 is one of your best choices for a home, workshop, or construction finishing compressor today.
